Code 39 Cd-DVD-RW

I have a Dell computer Vista 32 bits. We moved recently and this particular computer was left unplugged for about two months. After plugging back the computer, we can't read CD or DVD anymore. We get an error code 39. The model is TSST CORP – DVD+ -RW TS H653. We tried installing the driver again and to download a patch from Dell without any success. Even the Dell updated driver won't work. I am at a loss on how to repair this. I was trying to install a wireless D-link when I notice that my E drive won't read a CD nor DVD... Can anyone help me on this or what should I do to get my E drive for my CD / DVD to be working again? Has anyone encountered this problem and how was it fixed?

Thanks,

Suzanne

Hi,

Thanks for your help. I did manage to copy device manager in a word document. Unfortunately, Vista won't let me to copy to the forums. I hope you will be able to open the document for viewing. I am not all that computer savvy, so I'm not sure if this will work. Please let me know if it was not successfull.

Regards,

Suzanne

Hi,

The first option has beren tried on numerous occasions, still won't work. We delete some upper and lowers filters keys and now we're getting code 28. We tried downloading directly from Dell no success there either. I tried to find a driver from manufacter TSST ( Toshiba/Samsung Tecnologies Corp. ) to no avail. We're strongly considering replacing the CD/DVD RW rom altogether. Might be simpler. This is the third evening working to solve this issue. We're you able to open the word document I had attached to my previous reply and yes the hidden devices were showing ?View attachment device manager.doc
