CoD4 on Vista 32bit

I recently installed CoD4 on my computer and when I attempt to run the game the screen just becomes black with only the loading arrow visible. Then my computer returns to normal. Next time I try to open the game a window pops up that says: It appears that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare did not quit properly the last time it ran.
Do you want to run the game in safe mode?
This is recommended for most people.
It will change your system settings but not your controls.

I have tried running the game both in normal and safe mode. I have my directX and patched the game. So far nothing works. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

dont give me those lame solutions please. I already tried that as well as compatibility modus, as well as updating my drivers. I assemble comps myself for over 4 years now so i think i know what im doing. What i dont understand is that BF2 does work on my comp without problems. And i dont even have to use admin or compatiblity modus.

My specs are
Windows vista Business sp1
Dual core 2.83 mhz
2 gig memory
ati hd 2400 xt

dont mean to be disrespectfull about your answer though
im glad you made an efford to answer
greetz

btw when i run in windows xp sp2 modus he gives me the wrong dvd error message
even when starting up from dvd

Solutions aren't "lame" if those solutions are known to work. Since it was you who neglected to detail all the steps you've already tried, you're hardly in a position to get short with those who're only offering assistance and suggesting you try the most commonly known solution to your problem.

Being the competent builder you are, you should know that comparing one game to another is comparing apples to oranges.

I'd like to help, but fear getting my head bit off again, so perhaps you'd be so kind as to list everything you've tried?
