CoD4 install problem

Hi there,

so my Call of Duty 4 didn't start so I decided to reinstall it. I removed it and now when I try to install it back it says Error 1303 "The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\Activison\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\Mods.

Thanks!

Hi,

Run the installer from an Administrator account, and right click on it, and click Run as Administrator. Before this,

  • Navigate to the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Activison\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\Mods" and right click on it and select Properties.
  • Under the Security tab, click Advanced.
  • Under the Owner tab, click Edit.
  • Click "Other Users and Groups".
  • Click Advanced.
  • Click "Find Now".
  • Scroll down and double click on Everyone.
  • Click OK THREE times.
  • Click Edit (now on the standard file Property window under the Security tab).
  • Click Add.
  • Click Advanced.
  • Click "Find Now".
  • Scroll down and double click on Everyone.
  • Click OK.
  • Single click on Everyone and then tick the "Full Control" box under Allow.
  • Click OK TWO times.

Actually I solved the problem already, I had to install the game to some other folder than default one.

But the startup problem didn't disappear. So I can't still run CoD4 multiplayer. It shows the green guy and logo and then nothing happens. No error message or anything.

Go into your sound options and then in the recording tab and right click to show disabled and enable stereo mix.

Yes to 1.7

E: I don't know if this is important, but when CoD4 is running it makes a file called __iw3mp. When you close the game it normally deletes the file. But now whenever I start the game the file just stays there, like it would be running all the time.
