COD4 and 5.1 Surround Sound

hey guys, im having this problem, where when i set my Computer to 5.1 surround sound, COD4 Multiplayer freezes.
thing is, the single player surround sound works fine, sound come from all speakers fine, just when i go multiplayer, it crashes, anyone know a fix for it?

Sound card is Onboard, Realtek HD Audio, and im running Vista Ultimate X64

Hello Philfyy,
Does this happen on all servers, and what happens if you disable it ?, also, what makes you think it's the surround sound thats the issue ?.
I know, more questions than answers, :D

deary me, i feel a bit silly haha, i found out the problem, it was the surround sound, i hadnt set the front input plugs in the BIOS, so COD Locked. but ive fixed it now, haha thanks anyways :P
