Closing forum topics?

I find it frustrating that you lock your forum topics once you consider them finished. I had some updated info to add to a topic today, but couldn't because it'd been "closed." I found several other topics on the same, er, topic, but they'd been "closed" too.

Maybe you're just trying to be tidy. Okay, I can appreciate that. But technology doesn't stand still; it's constantly changing. When you close your topics, you leave old info in place and can deny your visitors the info and solutions they're looking for.

Hi Ander,

Please post a link back here to the threads that are closed that you wish to add to and I will open them for you.

We usually close them to prevent hijacked threads and to keep it from going off topic. Sometimes we close a thread if it is a hot topic and the posters cannot be civilized in their posts.

The Newsgroup topics are automatically closed by the server between 30-60days after no response, It stops new users from hijacking solved topics with other issues

Its done automatically but you can ask the moderators or the admins to unlock them for you at anytime

I have changed the auto lock settings from 30 days to 60, after that a newsgroup post is pretty much dead and a new topic should be started.
