Click sleep, Vista goes into hibernate: Why?

I looks as though Vista goes into hibernate even though I click on sleep. Up until now, Vista always went to sleep. What should I be checking?

To tell you the truth, although I am computer literate for surfing and tweajing, I've never entered into the Bios. But I may if the present issure isn't rectified.
