ClearChat comfort USB not detected

Hi guys, long time reader first time poster :D

Now I've been having a weird issue with my ClearChat Comfort USB microphone and I've been asking both Logitech and Microsoft for support. So far, Logitech claims it's Microsoft's problem and Microsoft.... well anyway

I plug my microphone (Certified for Windows Vista) and nothing happens... I mean, there's nothing even in Device Manager. Now there are no drivers for this microphone and I haven't found any hotfix. I thought it was because of Vista 64x but I tried on my laptop using Vista 32 home edition and got the same issue. It worked well on my laptop before Vista Service Pack came out.

Oh and yes, I have the latest version of all~ drivers

Some info :

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.00G/1333/6M/S775
Motherboard : S775 ASUS P5Q SE P45 PCIE
Graphic Card : Geforce 9800 GTX+ DK 512MB
RAM : Kingston DDR2 4 gig

Using Windows Vista Home Edition Premium 64x, and tried on 32x

Thanks for the quick answer

Here's what I have in playback device. Looks like the USB headset is not detected. Tried with a USB gamepad and a Ipod, both were detected.

Strange!! have you tried all of your ports? sometimes they are awkward to say the least.

I am no expert with USB headsets but I will see what I can come up with

As a start I think it could possibly be some sort of conflict but that is as far as I get

One after thought right click on haut-parleurs and make sure there is a tick in the box for show disabled devices, should your Hedset show up try to enable it and then set as default.

all ports are working fine.
USB headset was working fine on my laptop until I installed Vista Service Pack 1.
I'll try contacting Microsoft again.

Yep, and Show Disabled Devices was already on. Still nothing.
Sending a request at Microsoft for support.

Headset used to work fine with my laptop before Vista Service Pack 1. Gonna ask them if they can send me a hotfix or something like that.

I'll give some news later

have you checked that it is in the device manager or is it not even being detected in there either, if its not showing, click on the little computer with the spyglass and post your findings

Thanks for the advice.
I clicked on the computer with the spyglass and nothing happened.

The USB microphone doesn't show in the Device Manager. I've tried to manually install it and still can't detect it.
I know the microphone isn't broken, it worked fine until some Windows Updates.

I had an answer from Microsoft :
"En regardant dans notre base de données, j'ai retrouvé la source du problème : Service Pack 1 à introduit plusieurs changements au systèmes audio et USB qui peuvent créer des problèmes avec certains carte de son et autre périphériques."

In English : Service Pack 1 made some changes in Audio and USB that could create some issues with soundcards and other devices

thats a bit of a problem, you cant uninstall service pack 1 as it gives you more advantages than disadvantages, the only thing i can suggest is if you buy a microphone that is not usb connected, just make sure that it has a jack input rather than a usb, you can pick up a decent microphone for about 15euros
