Help, no end of troubles w/laptop, hoping that a clean re-install may fix problems. Can only use laptop in safemode, but then cannot get in to recognize disk when installed

Do you mean that you cant start the install in safe mode?
Can you not boot straight from the dvd?

You need to specify your problem a bit more i think...
Do you mean that when you start in safe mode, you cant get the disk to start?
If nothing else works, you always have the ability to completely wipe your hard drive. I know a program that starts from BIOS, so your OS does not interfere. This will completely clean your drive, then you just reinstall Windows. This is a last resort tactic however.
