Check disk problem...

Hi, I'm looking for help, and I couldn't find anything on Google...

My sister bring me a lap top Acer Extensa 4420, the problem is that every time you boot, Vista checks the C: drive looking for problems and the reset, after the reset Vista checks again the disk and reset again, doing this in a infinite way...

Before the chkdisk program start you have the option to skip it, if you do so you get a screen saying "Vista is Configuring the update 3/3" and then restart again...

The lap top have a rescue partition, with an auto-fix option, but it didin't worked, it was on running it all the night... ¿Some body can help me?

I did what the post says, start in safe mode, but after start the safe mode I don't get to a Vista Desktop, I get to the Acer recovery utility...

If I press F8 I get the menu for "Safe mode", and all that stuff, and option is "Skip system restart in failure", but it doesn't work...

I've connected the lap top hard disk to a PC and check for errors from Win XP, but still give the same problem

I cannot open the registry editor, I cannot use nothing of Windows Vista, just a very incomplete command prompt :S
I cannot run sfc /scannow, it doesn't finish... Then I managed to add to the registry from the command line the "BootExecute" entry but doesn't work, and for finish I cannot check which version of "autochk.exe" does the lap top have 'cause I doesn't have explorer...

If you can get to safe mode then run your antivirus program if you have one. If not, you might just have to use the recover utility or boot off of the Vista installation disk and try to recover/reinstall.

Well I made to move the autochk.exe to autochk.exe.bak and now the lap top doesn't check the disk, but the "installing update 3/3" screen continue to appear...

Has the computer ever worked normally at one point? If so have you tried hitting F8 at boot up and using Last Known Good Configuration? Sorry I can't be of more help, maybe one of the pros here can suggest more.

There is no problem, as far as I know it worked good before, and that option doesn't work, I've already tried it...

So I'll recover autochk.exe following the tutorial and then I'm gonna see what I do with that Infinite Reboot Loop

Well, all was two simple steps:

1.-Remove "C:Windows\winsxs\pending.xml" file from safe mode or the Acer rescue command prompt
2.-Download and replace the autochk.exe file with the one from the tutorial
