Changing AM2 from dual to quad after installed system

Hi Guy's, just wondered how vista 64 handles a cpu change after running on a dual core, to quad core on same install. I know it will still work, but would it optimize itself for quad core, or should I re-install to get best performance. I'm upgrading my sons machine & just wondered if anyone had any idea on this. I have flashed his bios to latest & will run with tlb off for performance.

cheers

The change from dual-core to quad-core should be transparent, and Vista will likely scale accordingly.

If you get all drastic and change the motherboard along with the CPU, then you'll likely need to perform a full re-install.

Make a backup of all relevant data anyway in either case, so that you can recover if something does go wrong.

And welcome to the Vistax64 forums.
