You need to provide some system specs and a bit more information.
Is the drive new ?, has it ever worked ?, are these Vista drivers or manufacturers drivers ?, is it internal or external ?, is it a DVD/CD drive or just CD ?.

Well.. I got the same problem, just that its Error code 12(the Driver Failed to start due to corrupt Registry)..

My Specs:

Windows Vista Ultimate Danish Version..
AMD Phenom Quad 2.7 Ghz.
2 Hdd's 1 Tb each(can't remember the name).
Dual ATI Radeon 4870 1Gb each (Crossfire Mode enabled).
8Gb Geil Black Dragon.
Creative Fatal1ty Pro Gamer.
Pioneer BRD-RW (Blu-Ray)(Not Working due to error code..)

yeah, it works perfectly 'till now except that i can see the sign in the windows toolbar (near the time) to remove the hardware. If i click it, then i can see it has a yellow exclamation point in the device manager.

Try going to Device Manager, un-install the DVD/CD player and reboot, it will re-install the drivers, give it a try and see if this fixes it. and also look to see if there is a yellow triangle there (in device manager), after the reboot.

It don't work for me.. And i got that yellow ! mark..

And the drive worked a week ago..

It would probably be better if you opened a new thread with your problem, or else things will get confusing on this one with two people, thanks.
In the mean time, go in to the Bios and see if it is being recognised there.
You could always try a system restore, to a point before you had this issue, and see if that throws anything up.

i uninstalled it, still has that green thing that says, "Safely Remove Hardware".
