Im a novice but have discovered the following error with my CD/DVD driver:

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

I have tried searching for updated drivers but have been told I have the latest available!!

Can anyone help with simple step by step instructions please?

Try uninstalling the drivers for your optical drive, run a registry cleaner (like CCleaner), reboot and ru windows normally. Unless it's a very rare external DVD drive, I don't think you'll have any problems running it without other drivers than the one supplied by Windows.
