the last 2 days i haven't been able to send email although i can receive. when i try to send the message goes to outbox and stays there and i get this error message:

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '[email protected]'. Subject '', Account: 'mail.thedispensary.net', Server: 'mail.thedispensary.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '553 5.3.0 Spam blocked see: http://www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?ip=81.154.15.164', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 553, Error Number: 0x800CCC78

I've checked that server authentication is enabled and i've tried disabling spam filter and firewall in McAfee with no luck. I'm using Windows Mail with Vista Home.

Anyone got any ideas?

There are two possiblities

1 Go to your account check the settings, against the settings as suggested by the email provider.
2 Problem is at the other end. The server of the email provider needs to be repaired.

Thanks for your reply

I'd already checked email settings - all ok.

My domain host says the problem is with the ISP filtering SMTP -have contacted the ISP - waiting for a reply. Probably be a long wait! In the meantime have created a gmail account to use for outgoing mail. Not ideal solution though.

Wish you luck. It happens to me too. Usually I wait a day or two and the server gets fixed.
