Cant put anything on the desktop says "Application not found"

Hi,
Got this computer from new a few weeks ago & it has Windows Vista on it.
Originally when I opened a web page & right clicked on short cut to desktop it worked fine.
Now this has stopped working & it says application not found. I cant add new shortcuts and existing ones stopped working so I deleted them.
Any help would be great & Thank you in advance.

Hello NClem, and welcome to Vista Forums.

If you mean that only all Internet shortcuts gave you this error, then double check in Default Programs to make sure that Internet Explorer is set as the default program with all of it's associations set to it as well.
