Hopefully someone can give me some ideas to try. After my system wakes up from S3 sleep the dvd-rom (D drive shows up just fine in my computer but fails to see any disc currently in the tray or fails to read any disc i put in it until after a reboot in which it works fine again....until the next S3 sleep.
I've tried pulling this Asus dvd-rom out and switching it with a Sony drive but same problem. I have updated the bios, updated firmware and even after SP 1..same problem. Anyone got any ideas?
My (E Dvd-RW drive plays just fine after sleep though.
Just a small update. I went ahead and re-installed the Asus dvd-rom back in and had room to install the Sony dvd-rom also. Both have the same problem still after s3 sleep yet my Lite-On dvd-rw works fine after a Vista S3 nap. No one has any ideas what could be causing this? Any ideas at all....i'm desperate here.
Re: Can't play dvd's etc. after S3 sleep-Problem solved
Turned on Autoplay and bought a new nic (new Intel nic works like a dream.)..and now i can play dvd's after s3 sleep perfectly.
On a side note after my onboard lan got fried by a power outage i had the misfortune of dealing with a cheap Netgear nic with their horrible Vista drivers. Steer clear...save yourself the nightmares. Thanks to Shawn for the help.
