Can't paste SimpleOCR scan

Using SimpleOCR I scanned text. I wanted to email it and save it to Documents.

The SimpleOCR scan had no provision to send it, so I saved it to Desktop, and it saved in Open Office (I have MS Works and Open Office but I don't know why it saved to Open Office since I usually Works for word processing).

The saved scan I rightclicked Copy.

When I tried to Paste in Hotmail email, I clicked the dark Paste but it did not paste.

When I copied and tried to paste the scan to a Works word processing page, the Paste option was grey and I couldn't paste it there either.

How can I copy and paste a Simple OCR scan?

Thank you.

This may seem like a really stupid question, but are you trying to copy the text IN the file, or are you clicking copy on the file itself?

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with SimpleOCR, so I'm not entirely sure how it works exactly. If it has preferences, make sure you go through them just to verify that there are no settings governing copy/paste.

There is also the possibility that, since the freeware has a somewhat limited feature set, copy/paste is simply disabled. If you need to email it to someone that doesn't have OpenOffice, you should be able to use OpenOffice to re-save the file in the Word format (*.doc) and then attach the .doc file to an email.

Sorry I couldn't give you more specific advice, but I'm temporarily unable to look at the program myself.
