I was one of those rare vista users who hadn't had any problems...until this week. All the sudden, I'm getting this message when I try to log on
"the server is not responding properly. verify that credential manager server is properly installed on the target server"
There's a thread on here with lots of great solutions- THANK YOU!!! But, of course, they aren't working for me. Here's where I'm getting stuck...
I start in 'Safe Mode'
I go to 'HP Protecttool Security Manager FOR ADMINISTRATORS'
I click on 'Credential Manager' and try to log on.
It tells me 'The system is not ready to accept your credentials'. My user is set up as an administrator and the only other options for users is 'Other user', which doesn't seem to accept anything.
I have also tried logging in in 'Safe Mode'
Going to 'Device Manager' > 'Security Devices' > 'Trusted platform module' and right-clicking to uninstall.
When I reboot, I get the same 'credential manager' error message.
There was another recommendation to log in in 'safe mode', then go to 'services' and disable everything that starts with HP. My problem is that I'm so damned stupid, I don't know where 'Services' is.
So, can anyone please please please please answer me any of the following...
1. Where is said 'Services' in safe mode?
2. How do I make the system 'ready to accept my credentials'?
3. Are there other options for fixing this problem, aside from burning the computer in effigy and switching to mac?
I'm one of the few 'lucky' vista users at work, so our IT folks haven't had to deal with this yet. I just want to get some work done!!!
