Can't get past read-only permission.

I have struggled for several days trying to set up file permissions for a three-computer wireless private home network. Two computers are XP Home and one is Vista Home. From either XP computer I can download Excel files that are on a shared folder on the Vista computer, but the XP computer sees the file as read-only. Thus, from an XP computer I cannot modify the file and then re-save it in its original location on the Vista computer.

My account name is admin on all three computers; my password is the same on all three computers. The network name is MSHOME on all three computers.

How do I set up user accounts on the Vista and XP computers to allow a remote XP user (i.e., me, admin, the administrator) to have full access to the shared folder on the Vista computer?

I am a little confused here but I would think you need to go into the properties of the folder or file you want to give rights to and assign Full rights to it so when you pick it up from any other pc, you can change stuff on it.

Thank you for the hint. I removed the read-only tag from the folder, but the file still opens read-only, so that didn't work. I believe the key is that I (i.e., Vista) have to give permission to the administrator of the XP computer for full access to the folder and its files. But I don't know how to do that. So Vista only gives access to administrator of the Vista computer. I would appreciate further help. I can open the file and change it freely from the Vista computer, without any restraints, whereas, if I open it from the XP computer the file is read-only.

Is there some way to see a list of all the users on the network (from Vista)?
