I have struggled for several days trying to set up file permissions for a three-computer wireless private home network. Two computers are XP Home and one is Vista Home. From either XP computer I can download Excel files that are on a shared folder on the Vista computer, but the XP computer sees the file as read-only. Thus, from an XP computer I cannot modify the file and then re-save it in its original location on the Vista computer.
My account name is admin on all three computers; my password is the same on all three computers. The network name is MSHOME on all three computers.
How do I set up user accounts on the Vista and XP computers to allow a remote XP user (i.e., me, admin, the administrator) to have full access to the shared folder on the Vista computer?
