We could use your system specs. Problems can be many, lack of hard drive space, lack of sufficient memory, etc. Give us your specs.

lol.. i did not go to linux as i thought, it was just me thinking out loud.... it is however fast with the live CD.

but back to the issue, something went wrong during the installing of vista because it was acting funny and crashing for some reason in addition to not doing windows updates, so i decided to clear out my partitions and format everything using gParted.

i left it as unallocated space and then reinstall Vista for a 2nd time in one day. so far installation went fine and its doing its updates, i will let windows update itself, instead of going straight to the service pack 1 standalone file that i previous downloaded.

does anyone know since i only got 2GB of Ram will creating a parition on my 1st hard drive of 4GB and setting virtual memory (the paging file) to 3072MB as a custom value will give me any increase in performance. ???

i also created a third parition at 50GB and redirect all my temp files there under enviromental variables. i was given these tips when vista first came out, by a friend, and so i wanted to check with some pros on here if this will actually give me any performance.
