can't do anything when deleting adobe folder

I have uninstalled everything related to Adobe CS4 but still,
there are two folders that cannot be deleted. One from
C:\ProgramData\Adobe (where ProgramData is hidden)
and on C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe......

The problem is, at startup, when I right-click on any file, folder or the like,
Windows Installer keeps on opening to install Adobe Acrobat 9.

I still have the Adobe Drive CS4 on the context menu even it is already
uninstalled together with Adobe AIR.

I tried everything I saw on this forum. But still, NONE worked. It (the files) won't
allow me to change the permission settings given that I am the ONLY user.

I really hope someone could fix this, I really really really need to delete it right away.

Hello RNZ, and welcome to Vista Forums.

You might see if the Adobe CS4 Clean Script can get it completely uninstalled for you.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Hello rnz,
If Brinks idea does not do the trick, (cant see why it wont), i would download ccleaner and install, boot in safe mode, delete the files you want to, open ccleaner, BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY, and run ccleaner, reboot as normal and see if that helps.

is on my laptop. i can't seem to figure why it didn't happen to my desktop.
i have used the same CS4 installer "but" i did not chose to install acrobat and adobe
drive on my desktop.

if this works, maybe i'll install the same on my laptop. thanks again.
i'll update this thread soon.

Hello rnz,
It's a pity nothing so far has worked, this might sound nuts but it worked for me on another app, reinstall everything, restart in safe mode and unistall everything adobe from there, still in safe mode carry out a full advanced search, include hidden folders, for anything adobe, delete anything you find and run ccleaner, (backup registry first), cross your fingers and restart, if all goes well you can reinstall any adobe bits you may need.

RNZ,

Ok, we can go to the next level then. Before we do, be sure to create a System Restore point so that you can use it to do a System Restore with in case you make a mistake below.

In the Registry, use the Find and Find Next option to search for all Adobe entries. Delete all entried found that are related to Adobe CS4. Now, if you have Adobe Reader or Adobe Flash Player installed as well, then you will need to be careful to not delete their entries. If you cannot be sure which one is which, then uninstall Adobe Reader or Adobe Flash Player for now so that you can then delete anything with Adobe in the registry.

Hope this help,
Shawn

thanks for your replies. what i did was use my recovery disk. since it's a laptop,
maybe it's better to use the system recovery function. i just finished it but still
haven't tried re-installing the adobe cs4. my suspected cause of the problem was
the adobe reader itself. although i'm not including acobat.com when i'm installing
cs4, it is already included on the adobe reader 9. i'll update this thread if it is a
success. thanks again.:)
