Can't connect to internet. media disconnected

So here is the problem, my desktop won't connect to the internet now. Only the green LED on the NIC card will come on and it will only be on for a split second and then shut off for a few seconds. On the gateway, the LED will flash for a second when the green light flashes on the NIC.

I've tried the following:
Switching cables and ports on the gateway
Windows system restore to a working date
Fresh install of Vista x64
Bought a new NIC card and installed it
Updating drivers of both NIC cards, and rolling back
Making sure the on board NIC card is enabled in Bios
Ran in cmd, netsh winsock reset netsh winsock reset catalog, ipconfig/renew ipconfig/flush dns

Here are the results of ipconfig/all

C:\Windows\system32>ipconfig/all

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm extremely frustrated since the computer worked fine at my dorm and now it wont work at home. I'm actually about to go to a friends to see if i can connect over there. Thanks

Additional info:
Windows Vista Home premium x64
Dell Inspiron 531s
Gateway: Westell VersaLink Model 327W
DSL connection
Other computer plugged into the gateway works just fine

EDIT: Went to a friends house and was able to connect. The gateway must be bad. It is old though

Hi welcome to the forum.
I noticed the post earlier but did not reply until testing completed at friends house.
Check the Gateway settings?
May require some updates?
Please have a look at the link to the Westell site for Model 327W.
Hope you will find the information available of some interest.
Thank you.

All ports are open that needs to be. I can't update any of the firmware since it's such an old gateway. I didn't have any problems until our DSL provider switched companies in our area. My friend has the same internet as us but he got a new modem and router from them. Our gateway is having a lot of problems so I'm just going to get a new one, which should fix the problem. We have had the same gateway for around 8 years now so it's about time for an upgrade anyways. Thanks for the help though Kesume!

Hi,
Thank's for your update.
Considering both the age of your existing Gateway & the advances in technology over that period.
To invest in a new one `is a wise decision.
Enjoy your computer.
