I have been trying in vain to burn some TV show DVD's from uTorrent. After a lot of investigating I have come to the conclusion that Windows Media Player in Windows Vista Home Basic won't allow me to do this. Am I correct? If not how do I go about it. I can PLAY purchased DVD but not burn.

Chances are the DVD's you downloaded are either ISO Images or DivX videos.

If they are DivX, then you'll need a third-party video converter and editor to burn them as DVD videos. Or, you can just get a DVD Player that supports DivX videos, and then use Nero or some other favourite DVD writing software to burn them to a standard DVD data disk.

If the downloads are ISO, then you can use Nero, Alcohol 120, MagicISO, etc. to burn them to DVD disk.

Thanks for these replies, they are Xvid, but I have read on Windows Help that Windows Media Player will not burn DVD's on Vista Home Basic. I don't think I will go down the road that you suggested, thanks anyway. Will probably update Vista eventually, then I should be able to do it.

Cheers.

DVD flick works well for xvids....

As for burning the DVDs, you can use ImgBurn
It's free and works well with Vista.
