Can I replace a driver from a backup?

Kind of a semi basic user here... and I don't want to mess something up.

I tried to install a new Epson Workforce 610 printer. The installation failed and now I get Error 0x000000c1 error when I try to add a printer. When I try to add as admin, it tells me that ntprint.dll is experiencing an error.

On my core C: drive, the ntprint.dll is blank... 0kB.
I have a backup of ntprint.dll on my D: recovery drive... would I screw anything up by just copying it over?

Also... as i understand, I can't copy a system file, even as an administrator... any advice?

you need to uninstall the printer driver and try to get the right driver..
if you are running wista and you can't uninstall the driver try these tool to do the uninstall- as unistalling the driver should remove the ntprint.dll as well I suppose

First, thank you for your quick and knowledgeable reply. I am extremely appreciative.

I used Revo to uninstall the drivers and everything went well. This allowed me to install the all-in-one scanner, but the printer install still fails because ntprint.dll is bad.

Thanks to Revo, I also found an install of an HP printer that wasn't showing up in vista.

Unfortunately, I am still getting a message that says ntprint.dll contains an error. When I try any install for the new printer.

I have no other printers installed on the computer, and I have a valid copy of ntprint.dll in my recovery disk. Is a copy and replace a valid solution, or is it the folly of a tech idiot [AKA me]?

Just restore back, to the time before you installed :D
