Not too long ago, I replaced my "dead" Dell desktop with an HP p6140f desktop running Vista 64. It uses an Intel 8200 chipset with Intel GMA 3100 integrated graphics. I still use my older Dell 19" monitor, and have tried to use my Pantone Huey color calibrator. Although I've downloaded the newest driver from Pantone, I still have issues with the monitor going in and out of calibration. I've logged several calls to Pantone but they seem to not be able to deal with it. I've resigned myself to the fact that I may need a new color calibrator so I'll probably buy a Spyder3 Pro since it gets a good rep but could these issues also be part of the integrated graphics in the chipset? I'm willing to get a graphics card as well to solve this issue.
In terms of the card, I'd only need it for Photoshop and photo-editing purposes. No games, no video. Because the PSU in the HP is only 300W, it would need to be under that. And ideally I'd like to spend under $100. I have gone through the pages and pages of cards that Microsoft says is compatible with V64 but frankly, I don't know what I'm looking for...
