c:\users\pc\AppData\Local\Temp folder

My new Dell desktop runs Vista Home Premium and has a 600GB internal hard drive.

My system backs up to an ext drive daily, and it looks like the Vista back-up app is ALSO stashing back up files on the internal hard drive under:

c:\users\pc\AppData\Local\Temp folder.

I deleted all these back up files, but they're coming back.

How do I keep them from coming back?

those are temporary files that windows & other programs create because they are needed for certain operations.

Just one example, when my antivirus says an update is avilable, it is downloaded to the temp folder then installed from there.

The problem is they are never deleted, you either have to do it manually or download a program like ccleaner to clean them out.

Thanks very much for the reply. I am puzzled why Vista's backup routine dumps these files into my Temp folder and I wonder whether there is a way to prevent it (or automatically clean it up) so it does not fill up my hard drive.

Vista`s backup should be saving files there unless you set that as your backup location under control panel?
