BSoD's

Hi , I was hoping I wouldn't have to post in here again.
But I've been getting BSoD's again, but not being caused by the same thing as last time, I believe.
I believe the cause is my hard drive as I received a BSoD with NTFS.sys as the culprit. However I don't know much about it, and I fund you very helpful last time so here I am again...

It is a 32-Bit Home Premium upgrade version
Upgraded from XP Home Edition
It is the full retail version

My PC is custom built and is around 2 years old
The OS has been installed twice (due to hard drive wiping), most recently about 6 months ago

Thanks

As you can see there are many causes to this particular BSOD. Lets start with the most problable and go from there
Test your memory
http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/246994-guide-to-using-memtest86/
Check your hard drive to ensure that you have enough space remaining.
Did you make any changes or add hardware around the time of the problem
Check to be sure that your bios is up to date

Update old drivers; especially Asacapi.
Code:
ASACPI.sys Wed Oct 18 01:44:46 2006
peauth.sys Mon Oct 23 04:55:32 2006
AsIO.sys Mon Dec 17 04:10:20 2007

In addition:

If overclocking restore normal settings
SFC /scannow
System Files - SFC Command
Scan with your Anti Virus
Update outdated listed drivers. If Ihave inadvertently listed any Microsoft Drivers, they can be ignored.

The 2006 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.
Please visit this link: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE
Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit" (it's about the12th item down).
Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.sysfile is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT 2005).

How to Find Drivers

search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results withwhat's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongsto
- visit the web site of themanufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T useWindows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties inlocating them, post back with questions and someone - will help you search Google for the name ofthe driver

- compare the Google results withwhat's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongsto
- - if there are difficulties inlocating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help youlocate the appropriate program.

- The most commondrivers are listed on this page: http://www.carrona.org/dvrref.html
- - Driver manufacturer linksare on this page: http://www.carrona.org/drvrdown.html

and here

www.edbott.com/weblog/the-vista-master-driver-list/

You can also locate information aboutyour driver using this information

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/96442-device-manager-finding-unknown-devices.html

Run Memtest (see above) for 8 passes
Ifit passes try a good stick in each slot for 3 passes
Ifit fails do the same for 8 passes.

Run the upgrade advisor to helpdiscover hardware problems

www.microsoft.com/Windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx

After performing all of the above, post back with any new BSOD reports, or indicate that the attempted repairswere successful.

If any links do not work, if clicked, please copy and paste to browser address bar.

It is very important to remember that the dump reports only giveclues as to the problem and although it is very easy to analyze only one ortwo, usually more are needed. If you experience additional BSOD afterinstalling a current version of the driver in question, be sure to post so thatwe can use the additional information to assist you in preventing the BSOD's

I know that this looks overwhelming but it really is not. Most are easy to do and some suggestions appear in two places, for further explanation.

Windows seems convinced that the 2006 is the latest driver.
It won't install the newer one whether I select it manually or run AsAcpiIns

Do everything that you can do. Then test for BSODs. If they are still present, then we will try to complete the steps that were omitted. I would, however, try to burn the memtest to a CD, ASAP. I want to be sure that memory is not the problem.

I went to the website. I did not try to download but a current one seems to be available.

Memory is no errors at all.

When I go to update AsAcpi file maually, I select the updated version I downloaded and it "installs" it yet when I check the date stamp it is still 2006.

See if you can find it in device manager. If you can unistall and then install, again. If not
Go to the location of the driver. Change the extension to .bup. Then try to upadate it.

Driver Location
C-->Windows-->System 32-->drivers.

Great, complete the other suggestions; then use the computer. If no more BSODs, let us know. If you still get them, let us have the new dump reports.
Good luck

just been BSoDed again this time a memory_management.
I have noticed that they are usually preceded by me doing something that involves Shockwave Flash or any kind of graphics processing in general i.e playing on FIFA 11.
Flash or the game will crash and then a BSoD will follow.

ASio has been updated, but I'm unable to find an update for peauth.

I have 30GB of space left.
I'm not over clocking.
Scanned with my antivirus, no detections.
I hadn't added any or changed hardware.
Upgrade advisor shows no hardware problems.

My Computer

Very good.
Did you check the BIOS. It may need to be updated. Do you know how to it?
Its not difficult, but must be done correctly to avoid problems.
All these steps must be taken, so that the cause of the BSOD afterwards can be more easily determined.

Assuming that you update the BIOS and you still get BSODs. Assuming, further, that the reports are the same as the last one you gave me, I am forced to go with memory.
The last two dumps point directly at memory. One gave it as a cause the other mentions memory as a reference.

Did you use Memtest86 for 8 passes?
Did it pass?
If so did you check a good stick for 4 passes in each slot?

I am posting now because I have the time. If you update BIOS and no problems congrats. If you still get BSODs, refer to this post
