BSODs after awakening from sleep

Hey,

I am helping a friend troubleshoot her computer which seems to crash every time it is left on for a while or after waking up form sleeping.

- x86 (32-bit) or x64 ?

- What is the age of system (hardware)?

approx 2 -3 years

- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?)

haven't re-installed the OS

She just told me she replaced her video card with a Nvidea GTS 450. She uses her PC for video editing, but hasn't done any video rendering since getting the video card ... not sure if that helps

HP CUE Device Discovery Service has stopped abnormally. Please uninstall the HP Cue software and then reinstall a copy from the HP website.

Only 288 updates since SP2 - most systems have 300-350 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get all available updates.

Each of the BSOD's blames ohci1394.sys - a Windows driver that is associated with your 1394 ports.
Please check all of the ports on the computer for damage and unplug any 1394 (Firewire) devices that you may have connected. Also check inside the case - but DON'T touch anything inside it!

Please run SFC.EXE /SCANNOW from an elevated (Run as adminsitrator) Command Prompt

Please remove these drivers by uninstalling their program. Most likely they belong to older, outdated CD/DVD programs. Check in C:\Windows\System32\drivers to ensure that they're gone.

3RD PARTY DRIVERS PRESENT IN THE DUMP FILES
- Create a System Restore Point prior to doing any of this. DO NOT mess with the drivers themselves - leave the Windows\System32\drivers directory alone unless we specifically direct you to it!

Could you give me an idea what I am supposed to be looking for? The case is packed and it is difficult to see anything but power chords and a large metal brace which I assume is for additional drives.

You may have to touch inside the case - if so, make sure that:
- the system is unplugged from the wall
- that you keep a hold of the metal of the case while rooting around inside (to prevent static discharge from damaging the components).
- if this is a laptop, don't mess around inside the case at all (I can't help with that).

Check to make sure all cables/connectors are firmly seated
Check to make sure nothing is damaged inside the case
Check for bad caps: Badcaps.net - How To Identify
Check to make sure that all cards/components are firmly seated. Since the video card was recently replaced, check all connections/wires/parts that would be jiggled when putting the video card in.
