BSOD

I have over the past couple of months started getting the BSOD. In the summer we watched a ball game online via Espn 2 viewer. Since we watched that I have had the warning that my local disk is almost full (red). I have run chk disk, defrag, ccleaner, virus scans can't find why it has filled up and am wondering if the BSOD has something to do with that as I can see it tells me to uninstall recently installed programs. HP dv 7 notebook 4 GB ram 64 bit. I have tried to follow all instructions for capturing and uploading the mini dump I hope it attaches.

Hi kesha27,

The Blue Screen message indicates that the file ndis.sys is causing the problem.

You can try to update the network card drivers to the latest version. To update the drivers go to manufacture’s website drivers or the vendor website for the network card.

Download and save the latest version of the drivers in the computer and then uninstall the drivers from device manager and providing the link for detailed instructions to uninstall the driver from device manager: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/171469-uninstall-device-device-driver.html

Install the driver latest version of the computer.

Please post back with the results.

Hi Madhur, thanks for the response. I have had 2 more crashes today, I have been trying to do all the things suggested in both replies. I have now just updated the driver you suggested and one other I get an error on occassionally. I will let you know if it happens again.

What is the ndis.sys file?

Hi Rich, I ran the hard drive test - Passed. I ran a full virus scan (I had already) found 1 low threat removed it. I have malwarebytes and had run that too as well I ran ccleaner, did a disk defrag and ran chk disk. I did the windirstat to see what is on the drive but I'm not sure what to do with that info. It would appear that my music folder is taking up the largest chunk but again not quite sure. The music folder has been there since the beginning so I'm not sure why it would cause problems now. I am currently running a full backup of my laptop. I am willing to put it back to factory settings and start again, but will see how it does in the next couple of days. Again it did crash twice today (while I had explorer open). The only other thing I can think of is that in the past month or so we have installed a new wireless printer into our home network.

Your statement that the hard drive is now full, indicates that is probably the cause.
Take your time with windirstat, it shows you what is on your drive. If the drive is full, you have to delete stuff. Reinstalling will not help that problem. You can put your stuff on an external hard drive.

You can upload the rest of crash files so that we can analysis it and let you know the cause of the Blue screen.

Thanks for the help. So far so good. 2 crashes yesterday, but none since. I have udpated all I could, have successfully backed up my computer to external hard drive and am now going to move all my pics/music I don't need off to see if that frees up some space. Will update if anymore Blue screens happen - K

Hi kesha27,

Good to hear that there are no Blue Screen messages. Ensure that if there any Blue screen message you can upload the files.

Also back up files and check if the space on the Hard Drive would increase.

Please revert back for clarification.
