Hello and welcome, could you go to device manager please and check for yellow caution icons ? I am seeing initially that device manager has a driver memory freed issue and you may need to update drivers . Please post back results of this .

K, good, i am still looking at dump logs, i will get back with you shortly, in the meantime , can you do this to check registry for corrupt or missing files for me. Follow instruction in this tutorial please : How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7
Notice the spacing in the command and run it, restart, run it , restart, and then run it again, on the 3rd time run , it should have fixed all it will . Post back those results please.

Thanks, those are not serious files that would cause a BSOD, but, if you have a OS dvd that came with the computer we can attempt to fix those later, can you get me some info that i am not seeing on your installed drivers ? Use this please, it is free : Speccy - System Information - Free Download Be sure to get the one for your OS and bit type. Then open it up and let it gather the info. When you get it all , open the Motherboard and get the Bios info. version number and date of it. Then open the Graphics and get me the info on it manufacture, date of and driver version it is using. That will assist me more. Please post back this info for me.

Thanks. i hope Speccy gave more info than that, you may have missed what i wanted, Look here : Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States]
You need some latest drivers . Grab the chipset, bios , and the video for now. Download them first, save where you know how to get to them , Speccy gives version numbers and dates for your Bios chipset and the graphics card. So. download the correct drivers from the 64 bit Vista list . Once you get them , let me know so i can double check which ones you got, and then we will update these if you have the correct ones. For example : on the Video you see this : R227577.exe (107MB)

When I try to install Dell XPS 1640 System BIOS I get the error that my battery is too low. My battery is at 0% available because my power cord doesn't charge the battery so I'm not sure what to do about that.
I'm still installing one, but it seems to be going fine.

No, there isn't a printer hooked up. I don't remember ever plugging a printer into it.

Well, you do not want the computer to shut off in the middle of installing drivers. Stop until you get a full charged battery or hook directly to an power outlet.

It's impossible for me to charge my battery. The original power cord got wrecked, so I have a generic power cord that doesn't charge the battery, it just gives the laptop power. I never unplug it unless I'm moving the laptop.

Great, now do this for me. Go to Windows updates and ensure you have any that may be available, if any are there, and they apply to your Microsoft programs ,then install them. I just got an Important one yesterday, just want to make sure you get yours , in case you have not already. Then , if you would, use this program to get rid of junk on the hard drive : TFC - Temp File Cleaner by OldTimer - Geeks to Go Forums It will want you to restart , do so. When back , use Speccy again and confirm it shows your new drivers. Then post back to me please.

The problem may be a driver or hardware. The driver given in the report is a Microsoft Driver and is most likely not the cause. Take this driver verifier test and report back with the results.

Driver Verifier

I'd suggest that you firstbackup your data and then make sure you've got access to another computer soyou can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so youcan restore the system using the Vista/Windows 7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....AllPrograms...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vistayou'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer"option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click"Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click"Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click"Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to useyour system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do thatrepeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier isstressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for atleast 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from yourinstallation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that youcreated.

Credit to Zigzag for the narrative.
