BSOD Keeps shutting me down

Note...I did as the instructions in this forum states...while running the app my machine shut down...Now it seems to be hung up running it...also did the 2nd part in the start menu...the pc is unable to create a report...

My machine is an EMachine (yea I know)...ET1810-01...intel 420 processor, 2 gig memory...

I have had problems with it since I got it about 3 years ago...has been rebuilt many times...presently about 8-9 months ago...had issues after that...but learned that one of my memory chips came loose...fixed it and all seemed good...

About a week ago, MS Security Essentials did a clean of some sort of maleware - and ever since it has been crashing...I can get it to run for a while...and it seems that Windows Media Player trips it up and then its crash central...

I did get an APC Index mismatch error...which finally gave me something to go on...and I updated the video and audio software...but has not fixed the problem...

Here are my most recent bsod codes from problems reports and solutions...listed from the most recent down to the last few days...the one at the top is what occurred while trying to run the app that the instructions here ask to have run...

This is just great...I don't HAVE a device that it is looking for - so how do I install the darn drivers????

only 209 updates after SP2 - most systems have 300 to 350. Please visit Windows Updates and get all available updates.

Please install drivers for this device (or physically remove it from your system):
SPC 200NC USB\VID_0471&PID_0325\5&3B07ADA&0&3 The drivers for this device are not installed.
This is most likely a Phillips SPC 200NC PC Camera (? webcam ?)

Here's some info on the majority of the errors (STOP 0x8E): BSOD Index
Please see the "Usual causes" section for some hints about things to check.

Antivirus and video drivers are way, way out of date. Please:
- download a new copy of the antivirus
- uninstall the current antivirus
- install the freshly downloaded copy of the antivirus, update it, and perform a full system scan.

As for the video driver, please get and install the latest available version for your system and video card from World Leader in Visual Computing Technologies | NVIDIA

While at the nVidia website you should also get the latest version of the nForce chipset drivers for your system (they're either under the nForce or under Legacy - depending on the age of your chipset).

Just FYI - 4 or 5 years ago we saw a rash of motherboard failures on eMachines systems. As this could be a hardware problem, the motherboard is something to keep in mind while we're troubleshooting.

If the above steps don't stop the BSOD's, please zip up and upload any new memory dumps with your next post - and we'll see what we can figure out from there.

The following info is just FYI, I've already addressed the issues that I saw in the above paragraphs

- Further info on BSOD error messages available at: http://www.carrona.org/bsodindx.html
- Info on how to troubleshoot BSOD's (DRAFT): http://www.carrona.org/userbsod.html

My Computer

Thank you...

Yea...I stupidly didn't realize that that old webcam was plugged in...duh...so it is now unplugged and so far so good...

Will do what you suggested with the Nvida...

As for the Windows updates...that is another issue....I have to do those very slowly and often one at a time...as they too for some reason cause my machine to crash from time to time...I am trying to get it up to date tho...will try to get more done between today and tomorrow and see what happens...

Will certainly post more if it dumps again...

Thanks so much

Christine

The only common denominator here is memory access' And one of the possibilities for this sort of error sequence is a memory problem. Unfortunately, this'll require a lot of testing.

Please run the free diagnostics from this page: Hardware Diagnostics

Start with MemTest86+, then Prime95, then the Video tests (there's 2 sets of them in addition to the Furmark test), then the CPU stress tests. Also run the other tests as they can impact your problems also. Please report back with the results.

The following info is just FYI, I've already addressed the issues that I saw in the above paragraphs
