BSOD and installation help

As you can tell by my name, I know very little when it comes to this stuff. I must hav gotten a virus because I got BSOD as soon as I logged in, and then the computer would restart itself. I got m OS cd, ran the diagnostics and repair of options (could not be automatically repaired) and set the computer to boot through cd only. When I try to install a clean copy (I formatted my c drive too) it gives an installation error (0x80070017) and says files are corrupt or missing. I really need this problem solved, on a Dell laptop, vista home basic

Does this dell laptop have a graphics card? Nvidia or ATi?

From what I've read, your going to need to disable that video card in the bios until you can get vista installed. Unfortunately, I can't see the screen and wouldn't know how to walk you through it as some BIOS are different then others. Sorry

So it's thits the bios that are stopping the installation? I'll try to find a way to disable them. Thanks

Yes, I've read a few posts where someone was stopped by vista with the same error you gave me, disabled there video card in the BIOS, and everything installed perfect afterwards.
