Boot Woes

Every single time I start or restart my computer I have to insert my OS disc to repair it because Vista wouldnt boot. Its Vista 64 premium. I have been trying to figure out why and I am at a loss. I uninstalled and removed my tv tuner and driver. I restored it to an earlier point. Is this a common problem?

No. Could you provide some more detail of your problem and maybe update you system specs for us to have a look at. Also any info on how long this problem has occured and anything you may have done, or that occurred prior to this problem occurring?

Look forward to your post

Ok I updated my system specs to what I could figure out. I will try to go into a little more detail about the problem. Every time I turn on or restart my computer, it goes to a black screen telling me that windows could not start and that I need to insert my OS disc so that it can repair the problem. I put the disc in and it repairs it and it restarts no problem. But then if i turn it off or restart it I have to do it all over again!

The only programs I have put on this computer are:
Firefox
Spore- which seems to be when the problem began to occur but was also around the time of a few updates I recieved for Vista
Itunes-along with a bunch of music from my old computer
Vuze-which I deleted thinking that the problem

And I also installed a tv tuner a friend of mine had lying around at his house. I did this the very night I bought the computer. I read online that some people had problems with booting and tv tuners so I took it out and it seemed like it fixed the problem for atleast a few boots. But alas it has reverted back to its old ways.

I was thinking about removing Spore to see what happens. I also read a lot of people were having trouble with it on Vista.

Thanks for the Help!!!!!

ChasY.

You probably have a bad hard drive. You should run some dedicated test such as DFT or Seatools or Maxblast.

These will determin if that is the case. If not you probably have a corrupt MBR. Which since it happens at every reboot leads us back to bad harddrive.

It dosent matter how young or old you HD is. Thay can go bad at any time.

My main rig runs Vista Ultimate or Server 2008. Depending on which Acronis image I decide to load.
Ok I will try that. I also forgot to mention that some one had me run sfc scannow in the command prompt and it came back saying that corrupt files were found. It told me a file name that I could go to to see more details on it but when I went there it wouldnt let me read it for some reason

Ok! So I downloaded seatools and it scanned and said that my hard drive passed. So I guess we can check that off.

Now I looked up what an MBR was. Is there anyway to check if mine is corrupt? I got it at best buy, and its under warranty. Should I just call Geek Squad? lol

You could try this and see what it comes up with

Also if you follow the methods here you may fix the problem ( if it's not a a hardware problem )

Yay!!!! Thank you so much! That seems to have done the trick! I ran the system file check and then installed BCD and after running BCD it restarted twice with no problems! Thank you so much!!!
