Solved blue screen on vaio

Hi- I have a brand new vaio and when I shut it down last night it "hung" - so finally I switched it off at the plug. Today I cannot get anything other than a blue screen.
Should I take the battery out and try and re-install it or is this something that a computer expert will have to sort out. Its such a pain. I live in Zamiba and 4 hours from any form of help....
Any ideas?

Do you get a blue screen as soon as you turn it on or does it go through its post?

Yes - blue screen first ... but I switched the whole thing off again. Then it rebooted and proceeded to shut down which is what I had asked it to do last night. When I next switched it on "joys" it all came back again. So for the time being the problem has gone away!
Thanks for your interest though. It is a lonely planet in the world of computers out here!
