Besides was "problem" not MS-patched october last year and real problem is not finding fixes but getting lazy/ignorant people (it-people included) to keep their stuff in shape?
"The Romanian security vendor" so Bitdefender is also from Eastern Europe? Cool, did not know that. Avast is as well, AVG also I think - might have moved abroad. Kaspersky is Russian, Avira German. Norton, Mcafee, Trend is US - ESET?
Well I didn't know they had a fix/block for it. This is just a tool to remove it. But, as I not having conficker, wouldn't know if it really works or not. Haha
Just posting it for anybody who wants to try it out, if they had a sudden urge to.
Fix is in the eye of the beholder. OpenDNS was only trying to blow their horn And Kaspersky or who ever probably did not mind.
Cant remember details so I could be wrong but when Conficker was headline there was 1 thing annoying me, and not for the first time. Why the heck does this have to be a problem when fix has been out for "ages" ? When fix/patch is released there should be no screaming headlines on every popular tech site. MS fails for the xxxxxxxth time but it just gets worse because of users with no clue. If not updating OS, server or whatever is considered required, or there are no adequate policy of how to deploy important/emergency "fixes", then dump whole setup and use something you trust and will keep updated. Linux, Mac - Wii! How hard can it be?
