BIOS Flashing

I'm new this process and am hoping that someone can lend a hand.

I understand how BIOS flashing works and the risks involved, but I'm not sure how to find the file to dl and how to actually complete the 'flash'.

Any help is appreciated.

are you sure your board will take a BIOS update..?? looking round the net i see many ppl having issues with the BIOS on this board....

does it have a built in ''flash utility''..??

Honestly I am not sure if it has built in flash utility.

i think in order for you to change the BIOS on this board, eMachines need to send a replacement ROM chip for it....


may i ask.....why do you need a BIOS update..??

Well, really I don't necessarily need the update but I've been geeking out more than usual lately (all sorts of tweaking, just upgraded my RAM, graphics card, and CPU, as well as creating a negative airspace for my PC with a series of intake fans which fit into one of my front expansion slots). I should really just stop there - long parenthetical statements just get strange after a while.

So, yeah, like I said, no real reason. Just one more thing for me to do to my computer. If it's insane to proceed to follow the BIOS flash route with no particular goal or necessity involved let me know and I will just drop it.

ahh i see....... well now i know where your coming from i can safely say, updating the BIOS on that board for any sort of performance reasons is pointless.

if you wanna start tweaking, & maybe OCing....you need to buy a new motherboard & transfer your other components to it.....

though you wont get much more out of that AMD 6000..... Intel is where the tweaking's at.

these pre-built machines are not meant to be tweaked, that's why most of us build our own from scratch...


if you wish to build a rig you can play around with i can help you with that, but there's not much we can do ''currently'' when at the heart of your system you have a locked motherboard..

There is only one place to get a BIOS update for your PC, or any OEM PC, and that is the mfg's website, if emachines doesn't have one for download then one doesn't exist, and as mentioned above, it wouldn't gain you anything performance wise anyway.

If you need to see if a BIOS flash for your eMachine exists go here: The Unofficial eMachines Tech Info Site goto tab heading "Motherboard Quick Link" put in the model # of your board and click go. This will open up a picture of your motherboard, and specs. Look in the little box on the upper left for 'Links' then click on 'Downloads' and it will tell you if there is another BIOS for your board. If not go here:
EmachineUpgraders and setup a login account like you did here. Under the heading 'Newer Systems' if that is what you have put in a call to "Lubner"....he is the eMachine BIOS king on that forum. Tell him what you want to do and he will help you do it.
I will say this, if your machine is running smoothly, and there are no issues, you don't need a BIOS update.
