Big Startup problems

Hey guys, I would really appreciate if anyone could help me out. My Vista Home Premium 32bit (pre-installed on my Toshiba laptop) seems to have crashed. It turns on, goes to Windows Error Recovery/ Launch Startup Repair screen, but won't load up like it used to do, it says 'loading files', then the small microsoft bar appears then states System Recovery Options cannot start. i have tried F8 and Repair Your Computer, again the loading file page appears and System Recovery Option fail screen. I have tried Safe Mode and with command prompt but it all restarts again. Using Disable automatic restart on system failure, Start Windows Normally etc still are no use. I have managed to get to a blue screen saying that it could be a hardware problem or virus and to use CHKDSK/5 but again, cannot get into anything to try this. It has never done this before and the only thing i can think of is that i used a new memory card reader and the problems started after this. I dont want to use the Product Recovery disc in case i lose all my data and i stupidly didnt create a backup disc (hindsight is a wonderful thing)!! Thanks :)

You were suppose to get a restore DVD with the computer. Can you find it?
Did you ever make one?

What I would do at this point is call the computer company and try to get a restore DVD, they should charge abourt $25.00. If they will not cooperate you can get an upgrade version of Windows 7 for about $135.00. Either will work if the problem is not caused my a hardware problem in the computer.
