I had a similar problem. Somehow, people could hear me talk, even though setup didn't work. My brother and I played with it for awhile, but it still worked. The mind boggles.

Very similar problem, my setup does not work in Bf2. My mic works in game, but it is too quiet for anyone to hear me unless I shout. Vista will not allow me to turn on mic boost for some reason. Any solutions?

Hello mbp666,
When you say "Vista will not allow me to turn on mic boost for some reason", could you be a bit more specific, do you get an error message, is it greyed out, is the option there at all, fill in your system specs and give us a bit more info on the problem, thanks.

Its greyed out and I cant click it.

Im running vista home premium. 64 bit.
Amd 2.9 Ghz
4 gb ram
Nvidia gforce 9500 gt

I got a cheesy little desktop mic that worked fine with Bf2 boost on windows xp. Then when I switch computers, I cant enable boost (its greyed out). And in my vista setting themselves under mic and levels, I have it turned all the way up.

Sounds like bf2 boost under Vista doesn't recognize your microphone. Could be a mic driver problem.

Have you checked with the mic maker's web site, and on the bf forums ?

Maybe someone there has a similar problem.

It does look like it's not being picked up by Vista, is it a USB or a jack plug connection ?, as JimJoe already said, i would check for drivers.
Also, have you set this as the default for the system ?, is there any control panel for your sound card that the Mic boost can be set in ?.
