Try reinstalling the latest Battlefield 2142 Update 1.4 Beta 2 from the EA games website, I believe it fixes some errors your having...If you paid for the product contact EA there under obligation to provide support for customers having difficultly or product crashes.

hmm Games are allways fun trying to figure out the cause of an appcrash,

check PunkBuster is enabled and updated, evenbalance have a tool available to check and update for you PunkBuster Online Countermeasures .
BF2142 also sometimes needs administrative rights, under the compadibility tab in properties tick "run as administrator"

Yep, and there is always a chance for older games that do not work to run in "Windows XP SP2" Compatibility mode, together with "Run as Adminisitrator" [both under properties as I recall, although I am at my workplace sitting at an XP :)]... Worked for me with Far Cry (here even fixed video problems); BF2142 and one other... now what was it... Fable I guess.

I fixed the problem, It was the old X-FI driver (004), I had to re-install windows anyway, after that I installed X-FI drivers (006) and now its running fine..

Thank you all for your replies

interesting, alright.

I was going to suggest to run the game in Administrator Mode (without the Windows XP compatibility). It works perfectly here.
