Hy there... I'm new to the forum, so I will ask a simple question.
Did anyone manage to install drivers for this gpu on hp g72-a10em notebook??I'm killing myself with it, just can't install...It keeps saying in device manager(standard vga display adapter)....I have tried everything I could google, and it's getting anoying...help, please

The closest thing i could find on HP's website was HP G72-a30EM. I would call HP and ask them if they can provide a link for the correct driver.

did that, and they directed me to the drivers...funny thing is that the model I described had both intel hd graphics, and hd 5470 graphics, which is weird....

My Computer

Not really weird, as budget models have the intel gma

The weird thing is even google doesn't know your model.

D/l gpu-z from Download TechPowerUp GPU-Z v0.4.6 | techPowerUp
And double check your video card stuff.

Oh, the other thing is alot of new comps have dual gpus to save power.

If your system was Windows 7 - you could get the ATI drivers.

Nice laptop, looks good.

that's the catch, I have a link to HP pages in Croatian, where it says iz has Ati Mobility radeon HD 5470 graphics, but I installed Intel HD graphics... It's a good laptop. I didn't put win 7, because I like Vista, and works good...Since it's a work computer, connecting to a work server(my program is there), it actually doesn't matter which OS I use.
And one more thing, just saw it, the model is g72-a10em, not 19....sorry, my bad.

My Computer

Can you please provide the product number (p/n) and the serial number (s/n)?
It is under the computer.

How to get p/n and s/n from your computer:
https://h50203.www5.hp.com/HPISWeb/Customer/ProductId.aspx

Scroll down to HP Notebooks
I'll discuss with HP myself, I just need the p/n and the s/n.
Thanks.

also checked with gpu-z, I have both of graphics card listed there...Intel HD graphics, and HD 5470...One more thing, when I tried to install drivers from HP site for the Ati card, it didn't work(win 7 driver), but installing win 7 driver for intel gpu help right away...don't get it???:sarc::sarc::sarc:

Well, it seems your system is finding the intel one, which is probably the one running at the time.

Its odd its not finding the ati.... which is for non-power saving mode.

Well, that was the WORST chat session I ever had. I never got a response from the HP staff. HP's Chatting Service Sucks, compared to Vodafone NZ Chatting Services.

sorry, can't get the drivers. will keep looking.

Just out of interest, did HP provide a CD to install drivers when you got the laptop for the first time?

When I got my HP (6 years ago) I had provided a CD to install drivers and software. It should provide one on all HP notebooks and desktops.

The problem isn't really the drivers... Its getting the computer to recognize the driver and hardware.

He has the hybrid gpu setup with an intel, built onto the i chip, and the 5470 for when he needs power.

Edit

I wonder if vista has the capability to run switchable/hybrid cards.
Btw the ati driver actually states its d/l is NOT for switchable cards.
