Greetings from a new forum user, in search of help with an annoying problem. I've searched both the General discussion and under Video for an answer without success, so I'm going to apologize in advance if this was answered in antiquity and is obvious to everyone.
Problem: upon wake-up from sleep or cold boot, monitor displays a text box message that simply says "DVI" for about a minute. While that wouldn't normally be a problem, the box is "on top" and can't be moved or deleted, meaning that anything i want to do in that area of the screen is obscured until the system timer shuts it off.
Action so far. On the advice of a technician posting at MS Answers, I've used msconfig.exe to test for a Service that is causing the problem; even with all boxes unchecked, the problem persists. I've installed the latest drivers from Nvidia's site: no change. Have checked for updated display drivers at MS: current driver is latest.
Additional Info: can't be sure, but my loose recollection is that this started around the time SP2 was installed. Video card has only DVI ports, so I can't try a different monitor. Otherwise, video performance is normal, and no other problems are noted.
Any help or advice appreciated.
