annoying blue arrow next to folder on mouse hover

I just upgraded from Vista Home Premium (32bit) to Ultimate (32bit).

I use the old Windows style of folders.

Everything seems fine except one extremely annoying thing: for almost every folder that the mouse hovers on, a blue arrow pointing down pops up to the right of the folder.

I never saw it in Home Premium, and I'm going nuts trying to find a way to disable it but haven't found any articles about this thing. I must disable it. It disappears as soon as I try to move all the way over to try clicking it.

If the folder is empty, then it doesn't pop up.
If the folder contains other things, and IF the arrow pops up close enough to the folder so I can click it, it will display a dropdown list of the folder's contents.

I only have a chance of clicking it like if I set the folder view to Tiles...

Please help me get rid of the blue arrow!
