An error has occured

hey all.. i am new to this vista forums. let me first start off, by saying hey all.




I have an issue regarding the "turn windows features on or off" I get an error: "An error has occured, not all of the features were succesfully changed"


This is VERY frustrating. And im SURE its been solved somewhere :P

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Hi, Nemesis_2k7, and welcome to the forums.

First of all, we need to know 1) What features you're turning on / off in order to help you out further - there are a lot of features that are installed and a lot that are not and that leaves us with too many combinations to pick and choose with.

I am trying to remove "Remote differencial compression" and "Windows dfs republication service"

OK, several questions:

• Are you using Outlook and a backup program to backup your Outlook PST files?
• Have you tried disabling Remote Differential Compression first and then tried going back and disabling Windows DFS Replication Service? I have the first disabled and the second enabled, even though (interestingly enough) Windows DFS uses the RDC for its checks :P
• Are you a part of a network at any time (such as at work) that includes an Active Directory structure that you access?

Also, *why* are you trying to disable these two features?
