All MS Windows Mail Accounts & Internet Explorer Browser very, very slow in loading.

What bad, bad,habit?
Vista Guru
Now, while I'm not pointing the finger directly at Windows Internet Explorer 9 which I recently upgraded to from IE8, I do wonder at the coincidence that since doing the upgrade to Windows IE9, everything 'Windows' related seems to be taking forever to load into my laptop.

These include three Mail accounts in Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail [Hotmail], and the latest version of Internet Explorer.

A summary of the browser and mail account details follows, with the loading times highlighted in bold type;

  • Windows Mail [ 1 account ] - Version 6.0.6000.16586 (Vista_rtm.061101-2205)....takes 70 seconds, plus or minus 5 seconds to load and complete the update functions.

  • Windows Live Mail 2011 [ 2 accounts - and I'm not talking about going online here.....these are accessed from an Icon in my Task Tray ] - Version 2011 - Build 15.4.3508.1109....takes 90 seconds, plus or minus 10 seconds to load and complete thr update functions.

  • Windows Internet Explorer 9 - Version 9.0.8112.16421 (Update Version RTM KB982861)....takes 70 seconds, plus or minus 5 seconds to load, but then either freezes for a further 15 to 20 seconds, or indicates that the page needs reloading.
This is all very frustrating, and I'm left wondering if others are experiencing similar problems with the same sort of issues and similar outcomes. I also wonder if there could be some other underlying issues or set-up problems, which may cause the problems with loading that I am experiencing with things Windows.

Re: All MS Windows Mail Accounts & Internet Explorer Browser very, very slow in loadi

I have IE9 RTM, Windows Mail, and Windows Live Mail 2009 ver.
I don't have any issues such as yours.

Since you have a Vista Guru badge, I won't bore you with details.

Suggestions :

1. System File check.
2. Disk defrag.
3. Disk cleanup.
4. Optimize performance :

5. Worse comes to worst, uninstall IE9.

Thanks for the come back, but it all remains rather curious.

I've always mainly used FireFox to hook into the Vista Forum, and have recently also updated that to the new Version 4.0. This includes using the links given as help in member replies.

However, when I tried tonight to get into the links in the above post, I get an Alert that looks like this;

Now I'm really perplexed as to what my next step should be, as I've never been presented with this problem before.

As to your recommended 'house-keeping' actions, eg Defrag etc, these are done on a regular basis, hence my worry about what is happening.

Cheers

If you uninstall IE9, which will automatically revert itself back to IE8, will the problems you mentioned disappear ?
If yes, then perhaps you want to stick with IE8 for now until you can figure out the cause of the issues.

I've just tried to access the links in your reply via IE9 browser and get the 'Cannot connect etc.' warning.

Looks like the problem is in the wlhtml linkings, so it's back to IE8....will keep you posted.

Hello T-4-2 I am curious, I have clicked on both of the above links and I could not get into them. Here is a screenshot of both, am wondering why...

Even if this is for IE9 I should be able to logon to them but nothing, I have checked and my mouse is just fine. Could you check and see if it does the same on yours and then let me know. Thank You

Thank you for bring the matter to my attention. I have no idea why the 2 links are not connecting.

Here are the re-posting of the 2 links mentioned :

Optimizing Microsoft Windows Vista Performance

Ways to improve your computer's performance

Whatever the reason was, I sincerely apologize.

P.S. editing : it has something to do when I copy/paste the links from my own copies.
This time I went to the source and did the copy/paste there.
The 2 links should work now.
