after install SP1, my windows...

becomes sluggish/lagged when i right-click my desktop...
and also in windows explorer when i right-click one of my drive/folder..


help..
what's goin on?
anybody experiencing the same thing??

Hi,

These problems are caused by a bad context menu handler, go there: NirSoft - freeware utilities: password recovery, system utilities, desktop utilities and download shellexviex, it is a tool which allows to view and manage all installed shell extensions.
Disable non-Microsoft context menu handlers *one-by-one* and verify if the problem is solved. If disabling one does not solve the problem, undo the disabled item and disable the next non-Microsoft handler. Do the same until the problem is solved and finally identify the culprit.

Important: You have to run shellexview as administrator.

it's not working

i've googled some pages and they all said the problem is with the SP1. it's just unstable..

any workaround, anyone?

maybe we should wait for a fix on this issue...

Well, I have 36 or 37 installs of Sp1 that beg to differ with it being unstable. Both 32bit and 64bit, both real machines and virtual machines, both home machines and those in the university lab.

Some machine specs would be helpful though - if your machine is an OEM machine you'll probably want to install drivers from the OEM's website after installing SP1.

Get updated drivers for all the hardware from SONY's site and reinstall them one by one. Most likely it is gonna be either a chipset driver or a display driver.
