administrator account

i'm using vista home 32bit with a user account that has administrator privileges. since there is a built-in administrator account which is disabled by default, i would just like to know that if i would enable the built-in administrator account and set a password and use it as my account and delete my user account with the same privileges (since it's my personal computer anyway), would there be any difference?

Hi Zinc, and welcome to Vista Forums.

The information box at the top of this tutorial will help better explain the differences between the default administrator account and the built-in administrator account. However, it will not hurt anything if you wanted to delete your other account and use only the built-in Administrator account instead.

thanks for your reply but may i know the downside if ever i would delete my user account and use the built-in administrator account as my permanent account? in regards to security concerns or other stuff. thanks

I wouldn't use the built-in admin as the main user cause it will be easier for viruses and other security issues so I would only use the built-in admin when you can't do something with your regular admin.

thanks for the advise but pls. can you explain further how it would be easier for these virus and other issues to attack or modify my system when using this account? I would just like to be fully informed on this matter. hope you'd bear with me. thanks

The UAC will not pop up to inform your of changes to your system for a program to install etc. The built-in admin account is for when you have problems uninstalling or installing programs with the regular admin account or when you can't change security settings or files that are not accessible with the regular admin account.

Not only do you have full access of the computer in the built-in Administrator, but so does every program while you are logged on to the built-in Administrator. In this account UAC is not active unlike in the default administrator account.
