A Serious BSOD proplem HELP PLEASE

I have an old computer that I am trying to keep alive until I can afford a new one. I am on SSDI so that is very difficult for me since finances are very limited.

My DVD burner no longer works, it shows up in explore, and all tests show it works, but will not read or recognize anything I put in it. I think it might be dead. This is part of my problem.

I am currently having problems with my computer shutting down from these BSOD issues a few minutes after I log on normally. I am currently using a type of "Safe Mode" to access my files and the internet to find some kind of solution.

I do not have a way to repair from my vista disk since my DVD burner is not working. I do not know what is causing it, and am hoping someone here can figure out a solution so I can keep this dinosaur alive until I can get the impertinent files I need transferred to a different computer.

The laptop keyboard no longer works, and my screen display has problems with snowy picture due to some damage to the case that may have caused some wires to dislodge from their connections. The damage occurred when I was trying to clean it, and did not know that laptop computers cannot be taken apart without a solder sucker and specialized tools. The DVD burner was not harmed when this happened, it went a year or so later.

DELL, has never been any help with me on this computer since I bought it NEW a few years ago in August (I'm thinking in 2005 or 06), and the first time I called them a month after buying it brand new, they're response was I was out of warranty for support and service in July that year, (a month BEFORE I purchased it NEW).

We went round and round about warranty for a year and a half all the time they denied that I had any kind of support unless I were to purchase an extended warranty, and of course exactly one and a half years from the date I purchased it, they send me an email stating that my warranty ended that day, (not a month before I purchased it like the tech support had been claiming from the beginning). FYI in my opinion, NEVER BUY A DELL, this is my second one, and I had similar problems with my first one.

Please look at the info in your report and see what can be done if anything to at least extend the life of this hunk of junk. In the description of my computer system, in the "other" information box, I have included all the system information I got from another program that scans the system to let me know what is under the hood. I hope this helps.

Hello, and welcome to the Vista Forums!

Let's look on the bright side! The fact that the problems do not appear in Safe Mode is an indication that this is not a hardware problem, and it can be fixed. This is by no means a proof, but let's keep our spirits up!

Also, your dump files have been very useful. They have given a lot of useful information. In fact, all bar one blame one thing: BufferZone.

Can you please uninstall all BufferZone products now. If this doesn't solve any problems, we can always reinstall it, but for now, it really has to go, as it really looks like this is the problem with your computer.

Once you have completely uninstalled that program, please re-start your computer, and tell me if the problems persist.

To keep your protection levels high, I want you to then immediately install Microsoft Security Essentials: Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows

Finally, I shall tell you now that the "all bar one" - that 'one' - dump blamed EVEREST Ultimate Edition.

If your problems persist, or persist, but not as violently, I want you to completely uninstall EVEREST Ultimate Edition.

Once you have uninstalled those two programs, and have installed MSE, I believe that your problems should be completely resolved, however, please keep me posted as to whether this advice works.

If it doesn't help, please re-run this: http://www.vistax64.com/crashes-debugging/282419-blue-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html

and re-upload the new dump files.

Thanks a lot, and the very best of luck!

Richard

EDIT: I shall just tell you now, so that you know. There is in your dump files one strong piece of evidence pointing towards memory corruption:

Code:
CHKIMG_EXTENSION: !chkimg -lo 50 -d !nt
    826132ca-826132ce 5 bytes - nt!NtWriteFile
 [ 6a 54 68 58 56:e9 f1 6a 56 04 ]
5 errors : !nt (826132ca-826132ce)

I need to check out your RAM to see if it is dead after you have uninstalled those programs, even if all seems well.
