Alright well I am having a few problems one when ever I turn my computer off and then turn it back on I log into my user account and I wait a bit and then this pops up.

I would like to know what the issue is there.

And secondly, My harddrive space is randomly being eaten every day it goes down by a 1 gig or 2 gigs and im starting to get like worried

And my last question is there a way to increase the speed of Vista load times like when booting and logging in.

Let's see about getting rid of the startup error message:

1. Press <WINDOWS_KEY>+<R> to open the RUN dialog
2. Type "MSCONFIG" (without quotes) and press <ENTER>. You'll need to respond to a UAC prompt
3. In the System Configuration Window, click on the "Startup" tab
4. Expand the width of the "Command" column so you can see the command lines better
5. Find the entries (if any) for all programs trying to run from "C:\Users", and disable them by clearing the checkmark for each particular entry
6. While you're at it, disable all other unnecessary programs, such as updaters, etc. Try not to disable entries that may be related to your anti-virus software.
7. Click OK to re-start the computer

If you disabled the correct entries, that message should be gone. If you find that you receive different error messages, then repeat the above procedure and re-enable some of the entries.

If even after all of this you still receive that obscure error message, then we'll look at other places that may be attempting to start an unauthorized program.

Also, do a scan for viruses and malware.

There are none running from C:\Users because I have turned them off awhile ago when I only had 1 gig of RAM.

1. Open Registry Editor. (<WINDOWS_KEY>+<R>, REGEDIT, <ENTER>).
2. Navigate to the key "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon"
3. What are the values for "Shell" and "UserInit"?

For now, DON'T change any values.

You sure about that? Without the "WinLogon" key, the computer won't start properly:

The settings you have in WinLogon should be almost the same as what you see in the above screenshot.​

Odd really, as the WinLogon key should be nearly identical for most users.

But let's try another route.

Do you remember installing/uninstalling any programs before that obscure message started popping up when you login?

Hmm. Maybe there is a Service or something that you haven't fully disabled. Try using MSCONFIG again, but this time, go to the Services tab. Turn on the "Hide all Microsoft services" option, then disable those services that may be causing this.

Again, if you experience other problems after disabling some services, then just reverse what you did to get them back.

And you're sure none of these is causing you a problem? You're sure that all of them are unwanted? You';re sure that none of them was a dependency of something else that you *do* want running?
