Hello
I bought a 3c996 T and because i knew that the card is discontinued there was a lack of drivers for vista. An idea was to let windows search online. He found a driver but during the "installing" sequence the computer freeze so i need to reset.I begin to search alternatively so i begin to try various drivers.Unfortunetly i got "code 31" error in device manager for all drivers that i tried.

EDIT: I solved the problem by installing W2k3 x64 driver.I tried yesterday the same stuff but i always got Code 31.Today it worked from first time.. I don't what was the problem.Maybe multiple failure installations..

Hi

When windows searches online for drivers, it only searches The Windows Update database, so if the manufacturer doesn't make drivers for Vista for this card, then there won't be any...period.

If you got lucky with an older driver installing on Vista, I wouldn't be surprised if the card still doesn't have problems somewhere as it's not likely that the older drivers will communicate properly with the Vista network stack.

Hello
It was a driver on Windows Update. The problem is this driver freezed my pc.Fortunetly the Win 2003 x64 driver from Broadcom works flawlesly and i can benefit from further driver upgrades through 3com have this product discontinued.I see that this card loads the pages a little faster than my onboard gigabit realtek.
BroadCom says that the bcm57xx chipset have some compliances issues with Windows Vista:
"This driver does not support BCM5700, BCM5701 and BCM5702 devices due to Vista compliance issues. To use these devices under Vista, please use the XP or Win2K3 driver above."
By now i have no issues but because maybe i don't use all server pedegree options.
