Solved 2 HDD and Boot Failure Problem

Hi,
I have two 500GB HDD's. I have installed vista on first one and I am using the second one for just storing my data. Today, I wanted to unplug the second HDD [depot disk] but after unpluging it my sistem gave me an error: "Disk Error: Please Insert System Dısk":( Why? My OS is not instaled on that one. Then I pluged it and opened vista and saw the following picture:

Vista sees my second HDD [D:] as a system disk. What is the problem? Was vista installed on the other HDD also when I installing vista since they were both connected?

Please help me. Thanks.

An improvement: I noticed that although my OS is installed on C: boot files are all on disk D::( Hence, when disk D: is unpluged OS is not loading. Now how can I put these boot files on disk C: where OS is installed?

Hi hasan_hzl,

Changing boot files to a different partition (system partition) is not a simple process. Check This.

VistaBootPro or EasyBCD Would do the trick if you have vista DVD (just to restore to an previous state if something goes wrong).

If you want to do Manually using Bootrec or BCDEdit, let me know.

This is how it works. VistaBootPro would change the system partition but you won't be able to boot until you run startup repair 2 to 3 times after reboot.

Note: you might not be able to use your computer (Required advance troubleshooting steps to fix)if you perform wrong steps.

I tried it in my computer using vistaBootPro and it worked. I tried manual way to restore it to C Drive.

Good Luck.

Thank you for your help. First I used "vistaboot pro" and then the stratup repair option and now there is no problem. Thanks again.:)
