Solved Vista 64 Audio Stutter

I have just reinstalled the operating system of my Dell Inspiron 1545 after it kept crashing for what appeared to be no reason at all. The crashing problem has gone, it seems, but now the audio is stuttering. It doesn't matter if I am watching something in a media player, on the internet, or just listening to a song. Every so often, the audio stutters.

I have tried the "Disable Enhancements," to no avail. The driver has also been uninstalled and reinstalled, which did nothing. I tried disabling all of the startup services and the audio seemed to be fine when I disabled the Intel Matrix Storage Manager. Could that be causing the problem?

Hello shhhhharlotte,

I can't think of any other solution to your problem apart from leaving the Intel Matrix Storage Manager disabled. I don't think it would be a good idea to remove it because I'm not entirely sure what will happen to be honest. If you don't have a RAID setup (you would know if you had one, it takes a while to set up), then there isn't any point having this software running :)

All right. Are you sure there won't be any negative effects, despite the fact that I don't have a RAID setup? On the Intel website, it mentioned some things about battery life being prolonged and other benefits. Is that only if you have a RAID setup?

From what i read of that service, you can safely disable it and not worry about it. If in the future you set up a Raid type system , then you could always enable it. Go ahead and then post back if this is solving the stutter issue please.

If you're using onboard audio, you can try reinstalling or updating your MOBO drivers.

Holy cow! I thought the experts in here would be all over this one.

Are you using a laptop? If so, you should be able to go to the vendors' support website and find the motherboard drivers. You would just run the .exe. If you have a problem, post the make and model number of your laptop.

If you have a PC, you probably got a disc with the motherboard drivers. You would just run the disc setup.exe.

I noticed that you said this problem happens randomly. When I'm listening to internet radio, I occasionally get a brief interruption. That's not a system problem.

Actually, I think that disabling the Intel Matrix Storage Manager fixed the problem. I have been testing the audio and I don't think I caught any stutters. If there were any, they were barely noticeable.
